May 8th. Sonora Round Up Parade. This is a parade and event staged in conjunction with the RCA Rodeo held at the Sonora Fairgrounds during the weekend. We usually meet at the Marinovich/Grout mansion in Columbia for a build it bigger and bolder burrito breakfast beginning at 7:00 a.m. Once saturated with enough food to feed an army, we all start up the engines and head on down to Sonora at a brisk 22 mph maximum. We actually run the parade route in reverse until we get to the J.S West Hardware and Lumber emporium where we "stage" and await our insertion into the parade. This is a small town parade where everyone in the county turns out to see and be seen. The streets are packed with chairs and pickup trucks where patrons take advantage of the progression of floats, trucks, marching units and vintage car groups - like the Northern Calfornia Dodge Brothers and Sisters group.
June 21st - June 25. The 24th. Annual International D-B Club Annual Meet and Tour. For those of you in the NCDBS Group who may be venturing to the International Meet, the Meet Headquarters will be at the Country Inn & Suites, 1857 Gettysburg Village Drive, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Phone (717)337-9518 FAX (717) 337-9665 or www.countryinns.com/hotels/pagetty. The room rate is $99.00 plus tax. Contact Earl Groendyke, 881 Windsor-Perrineville Road, East Windsor, NJ 08520 or email to earlgroendyke@verizon.net. You can call at (609)448-7957 or on Earls cell phone at (609) 915-4170. There will be many activities associated with the Civil War and a private tour of the Eisenhower Farm, Frank Buck's collection of WWII military vehicles and many other attractions.
July 4th. Stadelhoffer's Annual 4th of July Danville Parade (the 4th of July falls on a Sunday this year). The NCDBS Group vehicles will once more participate in the Annual 4th of July Danville Parade. Please assemble at the Stadelhoffers by 9:00 a.m. on the 4th. We will begin the roll down to the staging area at about 9:30 a.m. The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. this year since the 4th falls on a Sunday. After a hot cup of coffee, a breakfast roll or a doughnut or two, we will caravan down the main street of Danville to the local high school parking lot. At that point, all cars can be decorated with flags, ribbon and bunting. If past performance is any indication of future action, you will have ample time to decorate your vehicle. In fact, the usual wait is fairly long and you should bring a large hat and sun block. There isn't much shade in the staging area - so be prepared. Gene guarantees that this will be one of the hottest days of the year, so try and keep your Dodge (and yourselves) hydrated.
Following the parade, there will be a Pot-Luck B-B-Q after the Parade at Gene and Vicki Stadelhofer's home. If you have anything to share for the Pot-luck please bring it. i.e., salads, cookies, desserts, bread, casseroles, drinks, etc. All will be welcome. As usual, the NorCalDBS group will hold an informal Update Business/Group Meeting sometime before, during or after the B-B-Q. However, the NCDBS Group never lets business interfere with having fun! For more information contact Gene Stadelhofer (925) 837-7638 or Tom Barham (925) 934-7318.
July 10th. PENGROVE Steamup. Once a year the Pengrove Museum opens itself up to the public and starts up all of its antique engines - Steam, Gasoline, Diesel single cylinder to multi-cylinder engines. The NCDBS Region has supported this effort for the past few years. Meet at Amil Gehrke's abode at 9:30 a.m. and the NCDBS Region leaves enmass at about 10:00 a.m. to caravan over to the the Museum site where there is preferential parking and we become part of the display. We will remain at the site until about 2:00 p.m. and then depart for the Gehrke estate and conclude the day. For more information contact Amil Gehrke at (707) 799-4570.
August 14-15th. Great Gatsby Festival Tallac National Historic Site. This is a teens, 20's-30's Era Car Show and Period Costume required Benefit Event.
South Lake Tahoe, Calif. The NCDBS group has been quite a "force" at this event for a number of years. This year will be no exception with a number of NCDBS vehicles on display. The participants of this event park their cars less than 100 yards from Lake Tahoe itself where the display area for the cars is among the tall pine trees and on the lawn of the Pope Estate. There will be artisans, musicians, period clothing vendors and food on site - with everyone dressed in period costume. This is quite a sight to behold as there are docent tours through the estate buildings followed by a high Tea to culminate the weekend. For your entertainment, the Period Costume Fashion Show following the Tea is always a highlight of the event. Or maybe it is the playing of the old fashion Gut Bucket by Gene Stadelhofer as he joins the musical ensemble who grace the grounds (Vickie Stadelhofer sings and plays the washboard in accompaniment of the group). This is a "can't miss" event. So get your Panama hats, newsboys caps, collarless shirts, bow ties, vests, argyle socks, flapper dresses, clotche hats, Boas, beads, wingtip shoes, black nylon hoses, fur coats and come join in the revelry. The location is at Hwy 89 near Camp Richardson.

September 12 - a SundayDUNSMUIR GATSBY AFTERNOON
Sept. 12. Dunsmuir Gatsby Afternoon in Oakland, California. Now that you have dressed up in period costume, don't put the attire away. The Art Deco Society of California sponsors the Gatsby Afternoon at the Dunsmuir Historical House in Oakland, California. This event is open to pre-war cars and draws a huge crowd. The event officially opens at 1:00 p.m. for the general public to begin arriving at the grounds and setting up their picnics. All patrons must be dressed in era appropriate clothing (1920-1940 or reasonable facsimile). If you do not have appropriate attire, the Art Deco Society is willing to rent you a costume for a small fee. There are elaborate picnics with tents, chandeliers, silver settings, iced champagne buckets, area rugs, etc. or a simple display of a sandwich or two out of a wicker basket. Or you can reserve a special table for your own and provide the victuals of your choice. Besides the cars, there is a dance floor and period appropriate dance music played by the Don Neely Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, plus the Deco Bells who perform their tap and dance routines. Those of you who are participants, you can arrive early to ensure that you can set up your car and displays. There is a small judging party that does "judge" every picnic exhibit and establishes a "winner". They do not judge the vehicles, only the exhibits set up for the Gatsby Afternoon Picnic. The NCBDS has come close in past years, but no cigar, as we came in 2nd one year. For more information call Donn Marinovich at (209) 533-3663 or EMAIL at dcmmld@wildblue.net. The cost to attend this event is $40 for ADSC members, $50 for non-members and $70 at the door. For further details you can contact the Art Deco Society of California directly. 415.982.DECO www.artdecosociety.org
September 25. 21st Anniversary Galt Old-Car Festival
pre WW-II Benefit Car Show. Since many of the NCDBS group will be in attendance, there will be a "NCDBS Mini-Meet". This is a non-Judged event. Rather, it is a "Show what you Have". The Event is held at a beautiful rural location of the McFarland Living History Ranch, Orr Road, Galt, Calif. There is a limitation of the first 100 pre-WWII cars at this function. If you bring your car for display, you do need to drive onto the display field (not necessarily off). The exciting thing about this Festival is that there are a multitude of antique cars in attendance. There are the Packards, the Rolls Royces, the Jordans, the Detroit Electric cars, Fords in Model A and T and almost every other Marque that was on the road since the early 1900's. Attendance of the pre-war cars has been dropping off for the past few years. A poll was taken during last years event requesting the inclusion of more modern cars during this event. This would include all Hot Rods and cars into the 50's, 60's and muscle cars of the 70's. This suggestion was defeated by the pre-war faction. However, unless the Festival draws more cars it will eventually move to the inclusion of more modern cars. We of the NCDBSG/R are urging all of you car owners to display your cars this coming year to show your support of the older cars. Do what you can to help. Even if you do not register and take your car to this event, it is worth the travel time to enjoy the other cars and the DB hospitality - as long as it will last as a pre-WWII car event. You will never regret your attendance.

Oct. 9 and 10. NCDBS presents The Fall Tour. This tour will be located in the greater northern California area. A two day affair with touring through the foothills of central California near the Stockton area or it might possibly be around the delta. There has been a request to tour Yosemite, but that might not work.
Further information will be forthcoming of this event as the year goes on and we can firm up our choices.
