How Quickly we forget last years memories

This is a digipix of the 2011 DECOBELLES from the Gatsby Afternoon Affair at the Dunsmuir-Heller Mansion in Oakland, California. Circa September 2011.

However, we are interested in the TURLOCK Swap meet of 2012 held during the last weekend of January. Roger Gong and Steve Keiser arrived at Row J Aisle 41 and 43 at about 7:20 a.m. and found that it was somewhat empty. We sat around for about 45 minutes and still were lonely strangers out in the land of the SWAP. Becoming bored, we began a cursory look at the rest of the vendors who were already in place but found nothing of great interest. However, we continued to walk the entire grounds and finally arrived back at the NCDBS site and waited. Eventually, Mike French arrived and we set up the tent, the table and chairs and the Dodge Brothers signage and we were "in business". Upon the table we had a sign up sheet for those interested in general information and a Parts Wanted/Sell sheet. In addition, Roger Gong provided a blurb sheet on the NCDBS with our Mission Statement enclosed and contact EMAIL ID's. These came in handy when we were requested to define what the NCDBS Region actually did. Most people were flabbergasted when they realized that the NCDBS did not have a "brick and mortar" headquarters located in some finite city, but that we were an integrated group of individuals that spanned all of Northern California and that each had areas of influence dependent upon where we lived!

The NCDBS booth was further supported by the arrival of Herman and Barbara Boone and Bob and Timber Vincent. Herman brought along a dozen or so of his own catalogs which were distributed upon the tables as reference guides. Whenever we received an inquiry as to parts or availability, Herman could easily retrieve a catalog or two for data. From the tone of the inquiries, there were a number of divisions. First there was the early DB questions regarding 4-cylinder cars (easily answered), then came the 6 cylinder cars through 1929 or so - then there were the question regarding the 30's to 1938 cars (6 cylinder power plants). Again, it was apropos that we had Herman fielding all of these questions regarding the 30's cars due to his expertise of these years. We also received our usual questions about post war and muscle car MOPAR genre which we could provide little or no information for except to direct people to the WPC Club.

Overall, it was a great day with decent weather except for the coolness in the dark of morning.
