NCDBS Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters is a group of
people who love and own vintage Dodge Brothers and Graham Brothers vehicles.
Our group is located in Northern California. We promote Dodge Brothers vehicles and Grahman Brothers trucks in our everday life.
The 24th Galt Old Car Festival was held on Sunday, September 25 2011 at the McFarland Living Historical Ranch, at 8899 Orr Road in Galt. The Ranch is the site of one of the first pioneer ranches in Galt. At one time, 2,800 acres of land west of Galt belonged to Mr. John McFarland. Mr. McFarland came from Scotland to Canada. He lived in Galt, Canada. Later he traveled west seeking gold, but discovered the real gold was in the fertile valley of California. Mr. McFarland became a very successful wheat farmer and he was chosen to give the town a name. He chose the name of Galt, the area where he had lived as a child. There was a Galt automobile built in Galt, Canada although there are no existing models of this marque.
In past years, there have been a few cars not being pre-1942 stock original. These cars are being weened out of the registry by the Galt Historical Society. So, if it is not original, it doesn't belong at this Festival. With all country affairs, there was a lot of food and great live entertainment as well as the wonderful raffle of a variety of items.
This year, there were fewer old cars at this function. It was rumored that other car shows and competing venues had reduced the number of vehicles at Galt. We did hear that the Detroit Electric had been sold and was now resident in Switzerland. However, the Dodge Brothers group garnered a few of the trophies with Jim Reid (1923 Touring) winning in his class and Herman Boone (1933 Cabriolet) was a winner in his class. All in attendance had a great time during the festival.
While at the venue, the NCDBS held its "Fall Mini-meet" as advertised. The slate of officers remained the same for the coming year. Minutes to the meeting are shown below.
