This is a 2010 NCDBS Meet
Dunsmuir Meet www.ncdbs.org
NCDBS Meet NCDBS  Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters is a group of people who love and own vintage Dodge Brothers and Graham Brothers vehicles. Our group is located in Northern California. We promote Dodge Brothers vehicles and Grahman Brothers trucks in our everday life.

The Gatsby Afternoon is sponsored each year by the Art Deco Society of California. It is held on the grounds of the historical Dunsmuir-Hellerman Estate. As you enter the grounds you see the Dunsmuir-Hellman estate shown below. This is a mighty edifice to the money of the time. Tours were free this year and patrons could wander through and inspect the house at their own leisure. Aside from exploring the mansion, there was the Art Deco Membership Pavilion where one could learn the latest from the ADSC, Croquet Lessons courtesy of the San Francisco Croquet Society, Wine Tasting and Ed Archer dispensing Dryer's Ice Cream from the back of his vintage Dryers Ice Cream Ford truck. And if these items did not keep you busy - there was always dancing to the Don Neely Royal Society Jazz Orchestra.

The Dunsmuir-Hellman Estate Mansion - an Art Deco treasure.

Above, there was mention of the wine tasting, in direct contradiction of the Prohibition Laws of the period.

One of the attractions of the Gatsby Afternoon is the DecoBelles who performed the "Sentimental Gentleman from Georgia. This was performed in the Great Gatsby Bathing Beauty Revue and culminated in the crowning of the new Miss Art Deco for 2010.

This digipix is out of focus, but it does provide a hint of the DecoBelles.

The concept of the ADSC Gatsby Afternoon is to bring vintage automobiles and a picnic to the grounds. This year the Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters Region were represented by Roger and Lynne Gong in their 1925 Screenside; Tom and Elaine Gong in their 1930 Straight 8 DC Rumble Seat Coupe and Donn Marinovich and Sherrin Grout in their 1923 Screenside. It was a great time had by all that attended.

The 1925 Screenside was decorated as a laundry truck.
This DC Rumble Seat coupe was outfitted to be ready for a golf outing.
The 1923 Screenside was decked out as a traveling vegetable truck.

Along with the vehicles we had a number of guests that joined the group. Specifically, daughter Leah Gong and Tyson Reidsberger and Deke Sennichsen and Katherine Thiery.

Note that all participants are in period costume as required by the ADSC.

There were some 45 cars on display during the event. Many were one of the kind and others were fairly common automobiles such as Fords, Buicks, etc. Shown below are two of the rarer cars that were on display.

This is a 1928 Stutz that was on static display.

All in all, those of us that were present had a great day. It was enjoyable to see many of the cars which are not seen at regular meets. We are all awaiting the 2011 Great Gatsby Afternoon to be held on Sept. 11, 2011. Hopefully we'll see many more of the NCDBS represented during this event.
