The 2009 Great Gatsby Festival and Tea was held the weekend of August 8 and 9. Once again the Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters Group (Region of the Dodge Club) was represented at the lawn at the Tallac Historical Site. Donn Marinovich and Sherrin Grout were camped on the shores of Lake Tahoe in their 1923 Sonora Screenside delivery truck. Amil and Sharon Gehrke were parked along side in their 1927 DB Roadster with the Roof Overhead Valve and dual caburetor arrangement. Gene and Vicki Stadelhofer completed the NCDBS Group contingent this year in their 1918 DB Touring car. Gene once again brought his "gut bucket" bass and played along with the strolling band hired for the event. Knute and MaryJoan Klinen (friends of the NCDBS group) was there in their 1936 Pontiac. There was another 1931 Buick and a 1914 Kissel Kar also parked near by.
In an effort the keep the enthusiasm for this event going, the NCDBS group planned an extra day for the event. On Friday, August 7 the entire group took a boat right across Lake Tahoe to the closed down Thunderbird Resort with a docent led tour and then a catered lunch and finally a trip back across the lake to Tahoe Keys. Overall, it was an exciting and wonderful weekend for all those in attendance. |
