NCDBS  Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters is a group of people who love and own vintage Dodge Brothers and Graham Brothers vehicles. Our group is located in Northern California. We promote Dodge Brothers vehicles and Grahman Brothers trucks in our everday life.

The Lazy River Tour III was held over the April 26 and 27th weekend. We had 20 cars participating and about 55 people attend the meet. Saturday April 26th was a "drivers" day. The destination was Isleton which by using the levee roads was some 41 miles away from the headquarters of the meet - especially touring along at about 25 mph. By judicious choice of routes, we were able to stretch out the driving without cycling back upon any route. We travelled through a couple of miles of gravel roads and along bumpy asphalt pavement. The levee roads are very narrow and there a few places to stop and form up after the group had begun driving. Therefore, it was determined that for this tour, we would bring our own rest stop along for the tour. It was very much appreciated during the 6 hours of driving. Traveling down the west side of the levee, we had to cross the river to the east. So we crossed using the J-MAC ferry which only holds 6 cars per transfer. This took a while but allowed everyone to take a break from driving. After everyone had crossed on the ferry we were off again down the road. We finally crossed the Isleton Bridge before entering into the town of Isleton itself. After a lunch stop in Isleton, we proceeded up the highway for a mile or so and entered into the Van De Maele farm. This farm has a unique mixture of modern equipment used today and antique equipment used in the past. At this juncture, we witnessed an anvil "firing" demonstration by Donn Marinovich. Just a lot of black powder between the two tops of the anvils, a fuse, detonator and a slow burning fuse lit by match. This was one bang up exhibition where the top anvil reached a height of some 23 feet. Following the anvil "firing" we boarded our many DB's and headed back to headquarters to end the day. After returning to the garage, we had a great dinner and a few words of dedication to Gil Belcher. We capped off the evening with our usual "White Elephant" auction and a short business meeting chaired by Tom Barham. Before long, it was time to head off back to the motels and get ready for day 2.
On Day 2, we travelled across the Sacramento River into the City of Sacramento proper. We passed by Sutters Fort and then proceeded directly to the Capitol and took in a tour of the Capitol museum. This was enjoyed by all on the tour. After the Capitol we headed for the Towe Museum. A picnic was awaiting all participants and lunch in the shade of tall cottonwood trees provided a break from the warming weather. After lunch on the lawn, we headed inside to tour the Towe museum itself. After ample time, we again boarded our faithful DB's and caravaned through Old Town before returning to Tour Headquarters where we made our good byes and everyone began to depart for their own homes. It was a wonderful weekend and everyone enjoyed the Lazy River Tour III

Just a note to all of those who donated materials at the Lazy River Tour for the "Iraq Hearts and Minds" campaign initiated by Captain Ben Kenion presently stationed in Iraq - 5 boxes (45 pounds) of materials for the school childern of war torn Iraq (paper, pencils, pens, erasers, toothbrushes, etc.) were delivered in early June. All of this material was forwarded by Donn Marinovich (absorbing all costs of shipping) in the name of the Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters group. Thank you Donn! Note that in the latest issue of the DBC News, a collection was being solicited for the International Meet in July. Thank you for your generous donations to this worthy cause!!
