GREAT GATSBY FESTIVAL AT TALLAC 2006

The Tahoe Heritage Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service hosted the Great Gatsby Festival August 12th and 13th, 2006. The event included costumed guided tours of the Pope House, Tea at Valhalla, Vintage Fashion Show and Vintage Automobiles on display. The Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters Group was represented (in full 1920's period costume) by Gene and Vickie Stadelhofers 1918 Touring car, Tom and Elaine Gong's 1919 4-door sedan, Donn Marinovich and Sherrin Grout's 1923 Screenside and Gerry and Donna Egland's 1924 Business coupe. The NCDBS was joined closely by Knute and Maryjoan Klinen's 1923 Columbia. Further details are due forthwith along with digipix's as soon as possible. It can be categorically stated that everyone in attendance thoroughly enjoyed themselves..

This scene depicts the area where the Great Gatsby Festival was held. This particular photo was shot from the lake front and is about 75 yards from the water.

This scene shows Lake Tahoe. These boats are moored right off the shore of the venue. The scene shows south Lake Tahoe as you look across to the Nevada side of the lake.

This 1924 Business Coupe was trailered down from Bend, Oregon by Gerry and Donna Egland. Notice that Donna Egland is sitting in the car as Gerry and Donn Marinovich are discussing the Festival. You can spot Donna between Donn's waving fingers.

Donn Marinovich and Sherrin Grout have been integral to this Gatsby Festival for a number of years. Note the Green Grocer motif of the Screenside which was on display the entire weekend for the visitors of the Festival.

Gene and Vicki Stadelhofer brought their 1918 Touring Car from Alamo, California. It held displays of period magazines and other materials - and the car was on display for viewing. For the past 3 years, Gene has been recruited by the entertainment band performing at the Festival and he accompanies the group on a "gut bucket" bass. Gene is an accomplished musician, while Vicki is an accomplished vocalist.

Tom and Elaine Gong brought their 1919 4-door sedan to the Festival from Richmond, California. This picture shows Gene Stadelhofer talking to Tom regarding his display of antique bamboo fly fishing equipment and his many collectible fly reels. Elaine Gong is in costume demonstrates the extent that the participants will go to join in the flavor of the event.

A "Roaring 20's" period costume modeled against the background of the Tallac Tea.

Elaine Gong and Vicki Stadelhofer were acting hostesses for this particular NCDBS Group table for the Tea at Tallac. Tom Gong in his knickers can be seen in the backgound.

Gerry Egland caught sitting at one of the tables in an unguarded moment.

Donn Marinovich up to something good!
