NCDBS Danville 4th July Parade 2005

The 4th was what we have all come to expect in July. The group all met at the Stadelhofer's at the appointed hour and after a few cups of coffee, donuts and orange juice graciously provided by Vicki and Gene Stadelhofer we loaded up and headed down to the staging area. We had 11 cars turn out for this event, although one was left on the trailer. The Stadelhofers '18 touring, the Lawrence '18 Touring, the Marinovich '23 Screenside, Travis Barham's '24 touring, the Barham '24 Sedan, the Gehrke '27 touring, the Boone '33 sedan, the Gong '35 coupe and '35 sedan and the Vincent 36 pickup (the Stephenson '19 touring was left on the trailer). Once at the staging area, everyone completed decorations with banners, tinsel and flags. It was a spiffy looking group of Dodge Brothers cars. It was extremely hot and the Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters Group entered towards the end of the parade. It is always slow going during this parade and this year was no exception. A lot of left foot fatigue with the amount of clutching going on with this type of stop and go driving. Once through the parade, we toured back to the Stadelhofer's where the hosts supplied the typical hotdog, hamburger, potatoe, macaroni, pasta and green salads for all of those in attendance. Good conversation ensued regarding the parade and a lot of dodge talk. Thanks again to the Stadelhofers for hosting this event. A great time was held by all!

This is Amil and Sharon Gehrke's 1927 Touring car. This car usually resides in Petaluma, but it loves to come out an parade in the hot July sun!

This is Travis Barham's 1924 Touring car. This car has been operational for many years and although it is not completely restored, it is a strong runner.

Here you can see a 1933 4-door sedan in the background which is owned by Herman and Barbara Boone. In the foreground is the 1923 Screenside brought down from Columbia by Sherrin and Donn Marinovich.

In this picture you will find Tom and Sharon Barham's 1926 4-door sedan, Tom and Elaine Gong's 1935 coupe along side their 1935 4-door sedan and a glimpe of Timber and Bob Vincent's 1936 pickup truck.

This is a little clearer view of the two 1935 vehicles and the 1936 pickup.

While awaiting our entry into the parade route, Donn Marinovich and Gene Stadelhofer were cooling off in the shade.

This scene depicts the amount of heat that the group was suffering through. The temperature was well above the 100 degree mark without a breeze. Everyone took refuge under the available shade.

This is Dick Lawrence's 1918 Touring car. This was the first time that Dick had joined in this parade after a few years of absence.

This is the Tom and Alma Stephenson's 1918 touring car that although running, was left on the trailer due to questions about its road worthiness.

This is Gene and Vicki Stadelhofer's fine 1918 Touring car. Gene and Vicki (and family) lead off the NCDBS Group contingent every year during this 4th of July celebration parade in Danville, California. You can see Vicki speaking to Gene besides the car in the shade of the top.
